Trauma Team
Difficulty: Medium
Superior: Chief Medical Officer and Chief Science Officer
Duties: Keep Lazarus employees safe, rescue crew members in critical condition.
Guides: Laws, Guide to Medicine
Quote: We’re called Trauma Team because we bring the trauma with us.

Description

As a member of the Lazarus Foundation’s Trauma Team, you serve two distinct but vital roles aboard the NEV Northern Light. Most importantly, you are the Lazarus Foundation’s private security force, tasked with keeping the doctors and scientists safe from anything from a violent patient to an escaped experiment, and anything in between. You are also the primary enforcer of the law within Lazarus’ domain, and it will be your job to extract fines from those who try to trespass or assault your coworkers, as well as extract missing payments from patients who might try to skip out on their medical bills.

Your second duty is to be a paramedic for the Lazarus medical team. This ship is uniquely hostile to life, and that means that crew members are likely to get injured, often grievously, and very few will have the decency to do so in the clean, well lit, relatively safe main corridors, so be ready to dive into maintenance following your suit sensor app.

Duties

As the Lazarus Foundation's personal security guard, you have a vital role to fill ensuring that the doctors, scientists, and paying customers remain safe and healthy while within Lazarus' domain. While you must follow the directions of the other members of Lazarus who outrank you, absent their explicit instruction, you have broad freedom to keep your assigned area safe by whatever means necessary. This does not mean you can go around gunning anyone down who looks at you funny. Nonlethal methods to deescalate situations must always be used first, only escalating to lethal methods when your life, or the life of your comrades is at risk. Ideally, a show of force and a firm, but empathetic demeanor should be enough to de-escalate a situation. When it isn't, you should attempt to detain them and notify Aegis. Timer locks have been installed on the patient rooms, which grants you a way to hold violent persons while waiting for Aegis to attend.

Tips

  • As a Trauma Team member, you are the lowest-ranked rank-and-file of the Lazarus Foundation hierarchy, and your downtime may often have you acting as a go-between and/or gopher between medical, science and/or the rest of the ship. Aside from that, you should also have your eyes glued to the suit sensors, ready to respond if someone gets hurt.
  • The most well-known, and most essential, part of your work is to act as Medical's EMTs. You are the emergency rescue crew, in other words. When a call goes out over [Common] screaming for "MEDICAL TO MAINTENANCE", you're the one that responds. It's your job to get there fast, find out who's hurt, and get them back to medbay as fast as possible so that the Doctors can fix them up. It's your job to perform basic treatments in the field, if necessary and reasonable, and to keep your patients stable long enough to survive the trip. Trauma kits, CPR, and whatever concoctions the Chemist has made are your weapons in the war of first aid. Be sure to have your equipment on your person, or close to hand, at all times.
  • On top of that you are also the first line of defense for both branches of Lazarus, so keep yourself armed and ready to take down anything that might cause harm to you or your coworkers. And don’t worry about being a little rough with the patients. After all, every bruise pack the doctor uses is more money in the bank.
